4140 Steel Tube Supplier

4140 Alloy Steel Tube Supplier

Steel Alloys & Services is a 4140 Alloy Steel tubing supplier with an emphasis on high-quality products and services for the oil and gas industry.

We are dedicated to being the best possible 4140 alloy steel tube supplier by providing on-time order processing and excellent customer service.

4140 is a low alloy steel used for multiple:

  • Downhole Tools: Essential for drilling operations, 4140 steel provides the necessary strength and durability to withstand harsh downhole environments.
  • Hydraulics: Used in hydraulic components, this steel alloy offers the perfect balance of impact resistance and fatigue strength for critical hydraulic systems.
  • Kelly Bars: 4140 steel tubing is ideal for manufacturing Kelly bars, providing the toughness and wear resistance needed for heavy-duty drilling equipment.
  • Valves: 4140 alloy steel is used in valve manufacturing due to its high tensile strength and resistance to high-pressure conditions.
  • Other Applications: With its robust mechanical properties, 4140 alloy steel is also used in various other industrial and mechanical applications that require high performance and resistance to wear and tear.

This alloy steel is easily heat-treatable, impact and abrasion resistant, and physical and structural tough alloy steel that contains between 0.38%-0.43% carbon content.

The alloy steel has controlled ranges for:

  • Chromium (Cr): Enhances corrosion resistance and improves hardness and toughness, making 4140 steel suitable for high-stress applications.
  • Molybdenum (Mo): Increases strength and wear resistance, as well as its ability to withstand high-temperature environments.
  • Manganese (Mn): Improves the steel’s toughness and hardenability.
  • Silicon (Si): Acts as a deoxidizer in the steel-making process, improving overall strength and resistance to oxidation.
  • Phosphorus (P): Typically present in low amounts, phosphorus can improve strength but should be kept at a controlled level to avoid brittleness.
  • Sulfur (S): Like phosphorus, sulfur is minimized to maintain the steel’s ductility and overall toughness.

Characteristics of 4140 Alloy Steel Tube:

  • Relatively high hardenability
  • Physical and structural toughness
  • Excellent weight to strength ratio
  • Flexible tensile/yield strengths
  • Good impact and abrasion resistance

Steel Alloys & Services strives to provide the type of performance and quality the energy service industry demands. We stock a variety of 4140 alloy steel tubes and bar sizes to fill customers’ orders quickly and efficiently. SAS 4140 alloy steel is produced with industry standards in mind including ASTM and SAE.
